2002 has been a rollercoaster ride with the threat of relegation present at the end of the season but by winning the Waddilove cup for the second year running the first team can claim to have had another successful season. Use the scroll down bar to below to get a summary of the first team's 2002 season.

Steve Thompson Steps down as skipper for the 2003 season
Steve Thompson who has done a superb job as Guiseley skipper over the past three seasons has decided to step down for the following year. Steve has captained the first team to the league championship in 2000, the Waddilove Cup finals for the past three seasons winning it consecutively in 2001 and 2002. On making his decision Steve said "I would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody concerned at the club for their help during this season and the previous two seasons under my captaincy". "Mark Ross will be taking over the 1st team reins for next year, and hopefully there will be even more silverware to put in the Guiseley trophy cabinet".
Steve will stay on at Guiseley to help Mark and the rest of the team achieve the success of the previous three seasons. Guiseley Cricket Club would like to thank and recognise Steve's achievements over the past three seasons and the team spirit he has helped to build up.
MARK ROSS

Mark has come up through the ranks at Guiseley from juniors to seniors and has also played for Farsley Celtic in the Bradford league as well as in Australia before returning to Guiseley.'Rossy' has been Guiseley's best opener for years and has won the man of the match award for the past two years in the Waddilove cup scoring 67 last year and a record 132 in this years final.

Mark will have a tough job this year in trying to repeat the success of recent years but is hopeful of making a few signings to bolster the strength of the side.

The side will lose Chris Thompson who has impressed during the 2002 season scoring 633 runs, capturing 31 wickets and taking an astonishing 21 catches (more than his father!!). Chris will be leaving for Bradford League side Idle and the club wish him the best of luck but I am sure we will still see him round the club from time to time.
