| The
Guiseley Cricket club golf day was held on the 16th August at
Bradford Golf Club on a baking hot day. It was a chance for
some of the players and supporters to down bats for clubs and
to hack their way around Bradford |
|
|
Early news was good with the news that
bandits Simon and Mark Ross not playing and last years winner
Sean Yeates cut to 20 handicap. The worst dressed prize was
again won by Roger Waite (how many years now Roger!!!!) and
unfortunately I was unable to get a photograph of those knee
high socks.

|
| A
good day was had by all and and the scores were very close as
you can see from the top 3 scores. Nearest the hole was won by
Hedley Houseman's group (sorry do no know name) while the
longest drive was won by Glyn Knaresborough although Nick
Fraser claimed to have beaten it but put it in the rough (yeh,
right!!). |
|
| Carl
Smith who was playing off 28 handicap (maybe not next year
Carl!) playing with brother in law Andrew Paley who himself
was a previous winner in 1997(playing off 48..I think?), won the
event with 42 points. Steve Dickinson came second with 41
points and could have won but for some wayward putting over
the last 4 holes. Third was Andy Noble a guest who came in
with 40 points and also could have won it but for finding
himself behind two trees up the 18th. |
|
| A
special mention must go to Chris Cooper who won the lowest 9
holes score of two points but beat his previous 18 hole high
score of 9 points with 16 points. The Lowest 18 hole round
belongs Perry Poucher with a lowly 15 points. |
|
| A
good day was had by all and many beers were sank during the
night. A special thank you To the staff at Bradford Golf Club
for making a great day as well as to Nick Fraser and Roger
Waite for organising the event. Hopefully next years event
will be as well attended as this years. |
