GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Adel (Away) - League
|
|
7th July 2003 |
|
|
|
Guiseley went to Adel looking for a victory to keep the pressure
on the league leaders Bilton at the half way point of the
season. Guiseley lost the toss and were put into bat on a good
looking pitch.
|
|
| Mark Ross and Graeme Wolfenden got off to a
great start with an opening stand of 116 before Wolfenden was
out for 48. Mark Ross was next out for 71 with the score on
143 as the Guiseley innings faltered in the final 15 overs. |
|
| Howard Reeve steadied things with a confident
21 and the rest of the batsmen helped push Guiseley to 221-9.
Jeff Shires was the pick of the bowlers with 5-56 and Tim Grey
backed him up with figures of 4-69. |
| |
| In reply Adel were in all sorts of trouble,
slumping to 102-7 but N Smith battled all the way for 53 not
out off 133 balls as the Guiseley bowlers kept the pressure
on. Adel finished on 138-8 for a single point as Andrew Paley
returned with 5-48 off 16 overs and Marcus Brown 1-34 off 16
overs. |
| |
| Another good all round performance by Guiseley
taking 5 points off Adel away and closing the gap on the
leaders (Bilton and Menston). |
