GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Beckwithshaw (Home) - League
|
|
10th May 2003 |
|
|
|
Guiseley wasted an opportunity to take six points against
Beckwithshaw thanks largely to some sloppy fielding and some
poor shot selections.
|
|
| Having reduced Beckwithshaw to 35-2 with Peter
Graham taking both wickets, Guiseley proceeded to drop
centurion Ben Quick 4 times on his way to a match winning 115
not out as Beckwithshaw posted a healthy 206-8. Peter Graham
(2-24) and Andrew Paley (3-36) were the pick of the Guiseley
bowlers as the fielders could not back their bowlers up. |
|
| In reply Guiseley got off to a poor start as
Howard Reeve went with the score on 0 and Mark Ross then
departed on 28 to leave Guiseley struggling. A third wicket
partnership of 66 between Glen Taylor (30) and Chris Underwood
(44) restored hope before Guiseley slumped to 128-6 thanks to
some poor batting. |
| |
| With hope of a win fading, in walked Chris Wain
(26) to join Steve Thompson (44 not out) who took the atack to
Beckwithshaw with some big hitting put on 48 to take the score
upto 178. Unfortunately this proved to be a brief flurry as
Guiseley's next three batsmen could only muster 13 runs as the
team was dismissed for 193, 13 runs short with Thompson
stranded on 44 not out. |
| |
| A vast improvement in the field and at the
crease is required if Guiseley are to challenge for honors
this year. |
