GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Beckwithshaw (Away) - League
|
|
19th July 2003 |
|
|
|
After losing the toss Guiseley were put
into bat and once again made a steady start putting 53 on for
the first wicket ( Wolfie 21 ).
|
|
| Skipper Ross still suffering from a bad back had
to retire hurt on 37 and played no further part in the game.
With the cup semi final the following day it was not worth
risking his back any further in the game. |
| |
| Useful partnerships came and went and the only
score of significance came from our adopted Aussie, Chris
Underwood ( 55 ), Ian Chaplin (22) and Glen Taylor (21). Chris
wain scored a patient 17 not out putting on 28 in the last 3
over with Sean Yeates (a stylish 14 not out) and the innings
closed on 209 for 6. |
| |
| The Guiseley bowlers made early in roads and
restricted Shaw to 93 for 5 at the half way stage. However a
century knock from Cann and 54 from Thompson saw Shaw home
with just an over to spare. |
| |
| The bowling attack was weakened by the loss of
A.Paley ( holiday ) and PC ( injury ) however a new
young bowler in the name of Joe Davies emerged with figures of
2 for 76. ( Possibly one to watch for the future ). |
