GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Bilton (Home) - League
|
|
21st June 2003 |
|
|
|
With both teams looking to catch Menston, this was always going
to be the tie of the week and it lived up to it's billing as
over 500 runs were scored.
|
|
| Guiseley batted first and were encouraged by an
opening stand of 70 before Wolfenden was out for 28.Chris
Underwood (70) entered the fray and put on 97 with Mark Ross
before Ross departed for 81 and the score on 168. |
|
| Guiseley lost regular wickets and finished on
253 with S Phillips and L Jarvis each taking 3 wickets for
Bilton. |
| |
| In reply Guiseley got off to great start
removing both openers with only 36 on the board and a win
looked on the cards. Bilton overseas player Steve Phillips
then showed his clss by putting the Guiseley bowlers to the
sword plundering a magnificent 149 not out and ably supported
by Mick Emerson (57) in putting on 172 for the fourth wicket. |
| |
| Guiseley 's best bowler was Andrew Paley who
took 1-57 off 13 overs but not enough discipline was displayed
by all bowlers as Phillips ran riot. |
