GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Green Lane (Home) - League
|
|
12th May 2003 |
|
|
|
Guiseley entertained Green Lane for the 2nd time in two weeks as
they were captained by ex Guiseley player Barry 'two-ton'
McCormack.
|
|
| Guiseley won the toss and put Green Lane into
bat, on a dry, batsmen friendly pitch (at Guiseley?) and soon
had Green Lane reeling at 62-5, thanks to some excellent
bowling from Andrew Paley (4-78) and Marcus Brown (2-35). S
Hargreaves (52) and P Atkinson (69) came to the rescue with a
80 partnership to take Green Lane to 142-6. Neil Allitt
(another ex Guiseley player) scored a rapid 20 before being
brilliantly run out (if I don't mind saying myself!!!!) by
Sean Yeates from 70yds in the deep). |
|
| Green Lane managed to get to 222-9 but Guiseley
will be disappointed that they could not dismiss Lane for
less. |
| |
| In reply Guiseley were in allsorts of trouble
after losing their top 4 batsmen with only 59 on the board in
the face of some excellent bowling from Neil Britton (6-57).
Chris Underwood steadied the ship with a measured 47 before he
was bowled after the drinks break leaving Guiseley in the
mire. |
| |
| A brilliant innings from Chris Wain (38 not
out), supported by number 10 Andrew Paley (28 not out) rescued
Guiseley a point from a game they should have lost. |
