GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Menston (Home) - League
|
|
23rd August 2003 |
|
|
|
After a recent dip in league form it was
time to visit league leaders Menston .
|
|
| Winning the toss the home side were asked to
bat and were soon reduced to 35 for 5 with some very accurate
bowling from the opening pair of Pales and Browny. |
|
| The home side ended their innings on 122 all
out mainly due to 51 from McGargle. Pales claimed 4 for 39 off
23 overs, a fantastic spell of bowling and was backed up by Mr
“ Economical “ Brown with a return of 3 for 21 off 10
overs. |
| |
| In response Guiseley wobbled at 18 for 2
however a third wicket stand of 64 between S.Ross and H.Reeve
steadied the ship. On 82 Ross fell to old boy Knowlsy for 23
but Reevy carried on crashing the ball to all parts in a match
winning score of 59 ( 52 coming in boundaries ). |
| |
| Chappie ( 20 no ) hit the winning runs with 25
overs to spare and earned the Guiseley boys a well deserved 6
points. |
