GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
North Leeds (Home) - League
|
|
31st May 2003 |
|
|
|
Records were sent tumbling at North Leeds as the highest
aggregate score was posted by these title chasing teams. It was
also the first time Guiseley first eleven had ever scored
greater than 300 runs in an innings.
|
|
| Guiseley elected to bat first on a flat track
in Roundhay but North Leeds struck first to remove Graeme
Wolfenden for 20 with the score on 32. Chris Underwood then
smashed a quick 40 off 38 balls to put on 51 run partnership
for the second wicket before he was removed but the impressive
Mark Ross was still there. The fourth wicket partnership of
Howard Reeve and Mark Ross put the North Leeds bowling attack
to the sword piling on 171 runs in 22 overs before Reeve was
out for 81 but Ross had already scored his century at the
other end. |
|
| Vice Captain Ian Chaplin then put on 65 runs
with Ross in 8 overs as the visitors cut loose before being
run out. Guiseley eventually scored 350 runs with Mark Ross
stricking a brilliant 159 not out off 144 balls. |
| |
| North Leeds lost their first two wickets with
just 24 on the board and Guiseley sensed victory but a defiant
century from Steve Wales (112) and 82 from N Baker meant that
Guiseley were unable to take the final 2 wickets at the end to
take victory. |
| |
| Not a good day for bowlers but Marcus Brown was
the pick of the Guiseley bowlers with 3-67 from 15 overs and
Chris Underwood taking 2 wickets. |
| |
| Lets hope for more runs next week against
Menston!! |
