GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Walkden (Home) - Friendly
|
|
19th April 2003 |
|
|
|
A weakened Guiseley side came up against the Bolton League side
a repeat of last years friendly. Mark Ross took the field as new
skipper and got off to an auspicious start by losing the toss
and Walkden elected to bat on a cloudy and cold day.
|
|
| Guiseley got off to a good start by taking the
first wicket with 19 runs on the board but the 2nd wicket
partnership (apologies - no names) put on 121 runs before the
opener (90) and number three batsman (27)was dismissed with
144 on the board. The Guiseley bowlers toiled well and
restricted Walkden to 225 from their 40 overs. |
|
| In reply Guiseley got off to a good start with
44 being put on for the first wicket before Howard Reeve was
dismissed for 17. Mark Ross then departed for 25 amid some
tight bowling by Walkden but Ian Chaplin (Vice Captain) tried
to restore some pride with a gutsy 23 but with wickets falling
around him he departed, leaving Steve Thompson (36 not out) to
nurse the tail through to 136 all out). |
| |
| Not the best start to the season but this did
provide Guiseley with some useful practice against a very
disciplined side. |
