GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Adel (Home) - Friendly

Guiseley were undone by a strong Adel team consisting of first
and second team players who batted Guiseley out of the game. S
Wardley scored a run a ball 82 and was ably supported by D
Weston (23) and I Bath (27).B. Hill kept the momentum going with
47 not out as Adel finished on 252 for the loss of seven
wickets. Guiseley's bowlers performed well despite being there
first run out with young prospect Ricky Harrison taking 3
wickets for 56 runs while 'old stagers' Adam Perring (1-8) and
Adrian Threapleton (1-30) bowled tightly.

|
| A special mention needs to be made for stand in
keeper Darren Smith who kept things tight behind the stumps
despite not keeping for a number of years. |
|
| Guiseley got off to a poor start with Ian Colquhoun
going for 9 runs but the third wicket partnership of David
Ross (26) and Graeme Wolfenden (43) boosted Guiseley's chances
of a victory before both went in quick succession. It was left
to captain Nick Fraser (43) to lead the run chase but this
proved to much as wickets fell at the other end. This left Joe
Davies and Ricky Harrison to see out the last over which they
managed but Guiseley were still some 40 runs short. |
|
| Despite the loss there were a number of
promising signs for the league campaign ahead and this match
hopefully will have blown a few 'cobwebs' away from the winter
months. |
