A titanic top of the table clash ended with a disappointing 1 point draw for the 2nd XI at Bilton on Saturday. The prospects of a positive outcome were slightly hindered by the loss of Craig Chaplin and Graeme Wolfenden to the 1st XI during the week as a result of injuries and holidays but Bilton played exceptinally well in all departments and deservedly took the spoils.

| Inserting the home team the Guiseley attack struggled to make an impact on a track that did little for the seamers but provided assistance for the spinners. Consistent batting from Dickinson, Groves and Pye was helped by some inspired play from 18 year old Chris Dawson and the experienced Carl Heptinstall with 94 not out and 37 not out respectively to bring about a total of 216 for 3. |

| This total was always going to be out of reach although some positive play from Steve Dickinson with a hard-hitting 32 in 35 balls, Richard Whitaker with 39 and Ian Colquhoun with 31 gave hope of reaching the 2 point target of 162. However an excellent spell of 22 overs 4 maidens 5 for 54 from Alan Kitchen's left-arm spin/medium pace put paid to that with Guiseley eventually finishing on 146 for 8 for only 1 point. |

| This leaves Bilton 4 points clear of Guiseley at the top at the half-way point of the season with all still to play for. |
