GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
CALVERLEY (Away) - League
3rd June 2002 |
Guiseley maintained their position at thehead of Division A with a commanding 8 wicket victory at Calverley on Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday.
| Victoria Park was alive with the local fete but this did not distract Steve Dickinson during an outstanding 21 over spell which prioduced 5 wickets at a cost of 47 runs. Only blisters and a stiff back prevented him from doing the full 25 overs but his impending holiday probably had a lot more to do with him wanting to conserve his energy !!!! |
| |
| A weakened Calverley side was dismissed for 132 but would have been pleased with this having been 49 for 6 at one stage.
Only G Thornton (29) scored over twenty runs as Guiseley's
bowlers maintained their stranglehold on the Calverley innings
with I Colquhoun (2-29) and Adam Perring (1-33) backing up
Steve Dickinson well. |
| An opening stand of 77 in 18 overs from Graeme Wolfenden and Craig Chaplin, making 29 and 51 respectively, laid a firm foundation for victory which was sealed by David Ross with 32 not
out and Chris Cooper 7 not out as Guiseley cantered home. |
