GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
GREEN LANE (Home) - League
1st June 2002 |
The 2nd XI continued their excellent League form with a close win over near neighbours Green Lane is a close fought encounter.
| Put in on a wet and difficult track Guiseley struggled against some excellent bowling from Britton,
Bramham, Cousins who are all left-arm over and Powell but eventually reached 116 for 9 in their allotted 50
overs. Only Craig Chaplin showed any resistance with a patient
29, while many Guiseley batsmen made starts but failed to go
on and compile a significant score. |
| |
| The response from the fired-up Guiseley bowlers was swift and dramatic quickly reducing Green Lane to 16 for 7 with the outstanding bowling of Marcus Brown and Adrian Threapleton claiming 3 LBW and 4 bowled victims in a hostile first 10
overs. However an excellent response from Neil Britton and Ian Roberts brought Green Lane back into the game with a partnership of 59 for the 8th and only a brilliant late spell of 2 for 11 from Richard Whitaker turned the game back in Guiseley's
favour. |
| There was joy abounding as Craig Chaplin took the only catch of the innings to dismiss last man Billy Cousins and secure victory by 28 runs leaving Marcus Brown with match-winning figures of 5 for 13 in 10.4 overs |
