GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
HALL PARK (Home) - League
27th April 2002 |

The 2nd XI made a disappointing start to their League campaign with a home defeat to Hall Park by 27 runs in a low-scoring encounter.
| Winning the toss and electing to field the Guiseley bowlers performed admirably to dismiss the visitors for 109 with them having been 82 for 2 at one time. 15 year old Ricky Harrison was the pick of the attack finishing with 4 for 38 but was well supported by veterans Adrian Threapleton with 3 for 14 and Ian Colquhoun with 3 for 18. Darren Wilson and Martin Culley batted patiently on a wicket which provided indifferent and low bounce throughout the day. They put on 74 for the 3rd wicket finishing with 39 and
34 respectively. Paul Nicholson made a confident debut behind the stumps taking a catch and a stumping. |
| In reply only Graeme Wolfenden showed any resistance with 25 as the Guiseley batters struggled to cope with the difficult wicket and some excellent medium-fast bowling from the consistent Phil
Warburton and the left-arm spin of James Holliday who finished with 4 for 31 and 4 for 20 respectively. They were eventually dismissed for a paltry 82 and more application will have to be shown if the team is to mount a serious title challenge. |
| At least there are 21 games to repair the damage and it can start with the visit to North Leeds next Saturday |
