GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
TONG PARK (Away) - Cup R2
16th June 2002 |

The Birtwhistle Cup campaign continued on Sunday with another visit to a 3rd Division side in Tong Park. Despite not playing the day before, after a cancelled League fixture again Beckwithshaw, the Guiseley batsman showed no signs of rustiness as they took advantage of winning the toss to put together a healthy 245 for 3.
| Unfortunately Graeme Wolfenden again missed the boat against a lower division side but his opening partner Craig Chaplin ensured that he didn't with 111 not out, ably supported by David Ross in a 2nd wicket stand of 103 of which he made 44. Chris Cooper with 25 and Steve Dickinson with a quickfire 32 not out ensured that they capitalised on a good start. |
| |
| The bowlers provided full support with excellent pressure at the start of the innings through Adrian Threapleton and Marcus Brown who finished with 2 for 15 and 2 for 12 respectively in their 9 over spells. Ian Colquhoun then chipped in with a quick 4 for 24 as Tong Park were dismissed for 111.
A Horner top scored for Tong Park with 28 as their Batsmen
failed to get to grips with a strong bowling line-up. |
| The 2nd XI is now unbeaten in 22 consecutive Cup games and aiming for an unprecedented 5th consecutive win. They now face
Folifoot away on 30 June. |
