GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
ADEL (Away) - League
22nd JUNE 2002 |
Veteran bowler Pete Graham was the hero of the day as Guiseley visited league leaders Adel and came away with all six points. He bowled a feisty opening spell which included 3 wickets in the space of ten balls, then returned to take the last 3 Adel wickets in 3 overs to reduce the home side to 165 all out.
| Earlier in the day Guiseley had set a total of 192 mainly through the efforts of Mark Ross (59) and Glen Taylor (45) although there was valuable support from Simon Ross(20) and skipper Steve Thompson who hit 21 from 13 balls near the close. |
| The Adel reply started pretty much as expected, batting like a team that was full of confidence with pinch hitter Johnny Francas hitting a quickfire 32 supported by Adel stalwart Ian Jones, who together took the score to 60 in 14 overs before Jones was caught and bowled by PC. In his next over PC claimed the wickets of Francas and Smith to leave the home side on 64 for 3. |
| There was a brief flurry from Dallaston before being bowled by Neil Allitt for 25, while at the churchyard end into a strong breeze Andy Paley took the two important wickets of Adel's big hitters Dave
Standring and overseas import Faizal Murza. |
| |
| Adel captain Stu Howie and Brian Hall took the score from 110 for 6 to a potentially match winning 158 for 6, but again the introduction of "Golden balls" Mark Ross did the trick breaking the partnership by bowling Howie for 26. This left the tail exposed and PC wasted no time in removing the last 3 batsmen for a well earned six points. |
