GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS BILTON (Home) - League

29th JUNE 2002

Last year's champions Bilton visited Nethermoor last Saturday and took all six points, in a tense finish, despite an improved batting display from the home side.
Missing first team regulars Mark and Simon Ross, Guiseley batted well with opener Howard Reeve making 39. Glen Taylor (59) and Chris Thompson (66) shared a 2nd wicket partnership of 81 to take the score to 160, and a final flurry in the latter overs gave the home side a challenging total of 230.
Having removed the prolific Miles Corish for 31 it was left to ex-Guiseley player Darren Murray and Bilton skipper Mick Emmerson to torture the Guiseley fielders with some excellent running between the wickets. Murray, having been dropped off the first ball of the innings, went on to make 88 and shared a 114 run partnership with Emmerson, 59.
Pete Graham and Chris Thompson bowled well at the death taking 2 wickets each to set up a tight finish, but Dan Schuffe (29) saw the visitors home with just 9 balls to spare.
