BOLTON VILLAS (Home) - Cup - R1
27th May 2002 |
This match was played over the following Monday and Tuesday
(27th and 28th May) due to rain over the weekend and was played
on a far from dry wicket or outfield. despite the tricky
conditions the match provided a comfortable passage through to the next round of the Waddilove cup, for the holders Guiseley, against a spirited Bolton Villas outfit.
| Mark Ross (112) and Glen Taylor (79) shared a partnership of 196 to put the tie beyond the reach of the C division's top team.
Guiseley, batting first, finished on 255 for 5 with a quickfire 33 not out from skipper Steve Thompson to add to the earlier
stand pushed the Guiseley total over the 250 mark. |
| With the match resuming the following day it
saw Bolton Villas restricted in scoring quick runs by an opening spell of 9 overs for 10 runs from Pete Graham and a couple of wickets from Andy Paley
which ensured Bolton Villas would not get anywhere near the Guiseley
total. |
| |
| Despite the tight bowling, Villas skipper Mick Birts made a gritty 40 before being ousted by the spin of
Chris Wain (3-23). Chris Thompson (2-1) wrapped up the tail with 2 wickets in 7 balls to set up a 2nd round tie with Tong Park. |
