GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
MENSTON (Home) - League
|
|
3rd June 2002 |
|
|
| A welcome return to winning ways made the jubilee bank holiday one to celebrate for
Guiseley. |
| |
| Batting first, Menston lost their first wicket when Thompson (Gary) was caught by Thompon (Steve) Bowled by Thompson (Chris) for 12. Other opener Dulson was the only other batter to worry the Guiseley attack with a well grafted 28, before becoming the first of PC's five wicket haul, his first for the club since joining from Bradford &
Bingley. Matt Hefferman, the Menston aussie, went without troubling the scorers, falling to a sharp diving catch in the gully by Richard Whitaker. |
|
| Guiseley continued to take wickets at regular intervals, prior to a final burst of 4 wickets in 4 overs by Pete Graham, which condemned Menston to a total of less than a hundred and gave PC final figures of 5 for 16 from his 11.2
overs. |
| |
| Following the batting exploits of the previous two league games even a total of this magnitude would be a challenge, and so it proved. Again Guiseley lost early wickets to the accurate bowling of Guiseley "ex-pat" Martin Knowles and South African
Brendankamp, collapsing to 30 for 4 from 16 overs. |
| |
| Simon Ross is the only batter showing form at the moment and he did not disappoint this time round as he made an invaluable 33 not out to steer his side to victory with the help of Neil Allitt who crashed 3 fours in 4 balls to clinch the six points at the death. |
