GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
NORTH LEEDS (Away) - League
13th JULY 2002 |
Guiseley left North Leeds emptied handed on Saturday, after failing to post a sufficiently testing total for the home side to chase.
| Rob Winter (6 for 54) and Nick Richardson (4 for 68) were the tormentors of the Guiseley batsmen. They rattled through the top five with little resistance leaving the visitors struggling on 30 for 5 after 20
overs. The middle order showed some fight, however, with Richard Whitaker, Neil Allitt and
Chris Wain all making good twenties to take the total to 127 all out at the close with 3 overs remaining. |
| Guiseley made the ideal start with Pete Graham taking the wicket of Tim Cooper in his first over, before having to retire hurt with a back injury. Replacing the injured PC, Chris Thompson had Tim Hollis caught at gully, while Neil Allitt also chipped in with the wicket of Tim Hales. |
| |
| Rob Winter proved to be a thorn in the side with the bat as well as the ball making a steady 45 not out to lead North Leeds to victory despite an excellent spell of spin bowling from Chris Wain who was unlucky not to get more than the 2 wickets he did. Barry Singleton finished the job with 2 big sixes, North Leeds claiming victory by 5 wickets. |
