GUISELEY 1st Team VERSUS
Walkden (AWAY) -
FRIENDLY
|
|
20th April 2002 |
|
|
|
Guiseley came crashing down to earth after there victory the
previous week at Bradford League side Farsley. Walkden won the
toss and elected to bat and got off to a flying start thanks to
some big hitting from opener D Smith (44) who put on a 90 run
partnership for the opening stand before being caught by Mark
Ross off the bowling of Chris Wain.
|
|
| The introduction of Mark Ross and Chris Wain
restrained Walkden from posting a score inexcess of 200 with
Chris Wain taking 3-31 off 10 overs and Mark Ross (who also
took 3 catches) taking 1-21 off 9 overs. This however, did not
stop D Watson scoring a chanceless 51 before retiring and T
Keys scoring 36 before he too retired. |
|
| Guiseley needing to chase 187 for victory got
off to a reasonable start with the opening pair putting on 26
for the first wicket before Guiseley lost three quick wickets
(Mark Ross, Glen Taylor and Chris Thompson) before Carig and
Ian Chaplin (No relation) built a useful partnership. With The
walkden bowlers keeping things tight, the pressure was too
much and craig chaplin departed for 26 caught by a diving D
Watson off the bowling of Reader (2-36) in the outfield
attempting to up the scoring rate. |
|
| Ian Chaplin was then caught by Ingram off the
bowling of D Smith (3-29) which then sparked a collapse with
only Chris Wain and Sean Yeates making it into double figures.
David Walkden was last man out leaving Roger Waite
unbeaten on 3 not out with 3 overs left and this left Guiseley
42 runs short. |
